R.M.S. Titanic, White Star Line Limited Release Serialized 6-inch Antique Patina Brass Sextant
with Inlaid Hardwood Case
We are pleased to offer this limited edition R.M.S. Titanic ring-frame sextant.
Only 50 of these beautiful solid brass reproductions of a nautical sextant used on the famous R.M.S. Titanic have been made, and each one has its own unique serial number.
It is a full-sized solid brass sextant with an antique patina finish.
It features adjustable mirrors and four swing-arm filters in heavy mounts.
To allow for precise adjustments of the inclination angle, the Rack and Pinion design has an adjustment knob that drives a pinion gear against machined teeth on the limb of the sextant.
Reading the German Silver vernier scale is eased through the utilization of a built-in magnifier that can be readily swung into position.
A convenient brass knurled screw on the top of the sextant serves to adjust the index mirror,
and the horizon mirror has a thumbscrew adjustment on the back of the sextant.
The telescope can be focused to produce a clear magnified upright image through its polished glass lenses.
The hardwood handle on the back of the sextant is marked "R.M.S. Titanic Six Inch Nautical Sextant" and has the unique serial number.
The sextant measures 8 inches (20.3 cm) tall, 8 1/4 inches (21 cm) wide, 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm) deep,
and weighs 2 pounds, 10 ounces (1.2 kg).
The sextant is accompanied by a beautiful velvet lined hardwood storage and display box that
has fitted cut-outs to securely hold the sextant.
The outside of the box has a solid brass plaque engraved "RMS Titanic, White Star Line, Nautical Sextant" with the matching serial number.
The front of the hardwood case has a handle and a unique front rotary clasp.
The joinery on the case are all "Box" or "Finger" joints.
The case measures 9 3/4 inches (25 cm) square and 5 3/8 inches (13.7 cm) tall, and weighs 4 pounds, 6 ounces (2.0 kg).
Custom brass plaques are available for the outside of the case,
inside the lid, or both.
Note that this reproduction sextant is not intended for navigation even though it is fully functional.
