The Stanley London® Chinese military map compass and pocket transit is packed with features.
In the movie "We Were Soldiers" starring Mel Gibson, this is the same compass shown in the Vietnamese Command Center.
It is both accurate and rugged, featuring a quality magnetically-damped jeweled compass with a needle-lift mechanism.
When the case is closed, the compass needle is lifted to protect the jeweled bearing during transport.
Six luminous dots on the compass needle, bezel, and cardinal points of the compass rose glow in the dark to enhance nighttime viewing.
An azimuth ring can be set to local magnetic declination (the difference between
true north and magnetic north in your location).
The compass also features a gravity clinometer for measuring vertical angles,
which can be read while you are sighting via the polished stainless steel mirror.
The map scales are 1:50,000 and 1:100,000, and there is a small wheel that drives
a jeweled map distance meter.

1 inch (2.5 cm) thick, and weighs 4.8 ounces (184 grams).
