Clinometer Handle Compass $24.95
This Stanley London® Clinometer Handle Compass is a reproduction of an antique Clinometer compass.
The Handle Compass derives its name from its "handle" shaped sight, which has two functions:
First, when the compass is level, an object can be viewed through the peep sights to determine its magnetic heading.
Its second and most fascinating purpose is when tilting the compass on its side and viewing an object
through the sights, its angle of elevation or declination can be found.
Beneath the compass needle a weighted pendulous arm can be read from one of three scales:
Angle in degrees beneath the zenith (from straight up), angle in degrees of elevation or declination, and
in inches per yard of slope.
The "handle" sighting arm is marked "Stanley London."
The compass jewel and the pendulous arm are protected when being transported through a needle lift mechanism.
The compass can fit in a pocket, and measures 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) in diameter, 7/8 inch (2.2 cm)
thick, and 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm) tall with the handle up.
The Handle Compass is crafted from solid brass, polished to a beautiful high luster, and weighs 8 ounces (225 grams).
The back of the Handle Compass can be custom engraved.
The Clinometer Handle Compass is offered at only $24.95.
A leather case is an option for an additional $13.95.
