This Premium Grade sextant is a beautifully made reproduction of a 6-inch radius British Nautical Sextant.
We offer this model with either a beautiful polished brass finish or an antique patina.
Each one is an expertly crafted solid brass sextant marked with a unique serial number, regardless of the type of model finish.
The sextant features an accurately divided German Silver scale, and a gear driven slow motion control for making small adjustments to the index arm.
In order to assist in reading the vernier scale, a powerful magnifier can be swung into position.
The telescope produces a clear magnified image through its polished glass lenses.
The mirror mounts are adjustable, and the index mirror has three recessed adjustments.
There are four tinted swing-arm filters:
Two very dark filters for sun shots and two medium blue for moon shots.
The unique serial number and "Stanley London 1885" are engraved on a thick brass plaque on the hardwood handle located on the back of the sextant.
The sextant is 7 5/8 inches
(19.4 cm) tall, 8 3/8 inches (21.3 cm) wide,
3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm) deep, and weighs almost 2.5 pounds (1.14 kg).
A thick 100 percent leather handmade case embossed "Stanley London" accompanies this sextant.
Note that the antique patina model comes with a distressed leather case, so the sextant and case, look like a 100-year-old antique.
Although these sextants are fully functional with properly aligned optics, they have not been calibrated and are not intended for navigation.
However, they are perfect for the collector or nautical enthusiast interested in learning celestial navigation.
