Brass Sundial with Magnetic Compass and Hardwood Case $125
This premium grade model of the sundial compass is similar to the model above, but has a round
spirit level built into the frame to assist in leveling the sundial.
The accuracy of a sundial is affected by the azimuth, latitude of the instrument, and level, and this sundial has the ability to set all three main variables.
The azimuth is aligned to the North by the internal magnetic compass.
The top of the sundial is hinged and a curved scale is used to set your local latitude angle.
To aid in the leveling of the sundial, the three legs of the sundial can be adjusted until the spirit level's bubble is centered.
The sundial measures 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall, 2 3/8 inches (6.0 cm) tall when collapsed,
the body of the compass is 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) in diameter, and the sundial weighs 14 ounces (397 grams).
A needle lift mechanism is engaged to protect the compass's jeweled bearing during transport.
The top of the sundial can lay down flat, and both the latitude scale and the sundial vane
are hinged to lay flat for compact storage.

A handsome fully lined hardwood case for display and storage of the brass sundial is included with the purchase.
The corners of the case have inlaid hardwood splines to strengthen the joints.
