This is a beautiful four-inch radius solid brass reproduction of a Titanic lifeboat sextant.
Only 75 of these limited edition R.M.S. Titanic sextants have been made, and each one has a unique serial number.
The index arm is engraved "White Star Line, R.M.S. Titanic" with a serial number, and has a slow motion control to allow for precise adjustments.
The index mirror can be fully adjusted using three brass screws.
The sextant has four swing-arm filters and a powerful built-in magnifier that can be swung into position to aid in the reading of the German Silver vernier scale.
Additionally, there is a solid hardwood handle on the back of the sextant.
The telescope produces a clear magnified non-inverted (upright) image through its polished glass lenses.
The sextant measures 4 3/4 inches (12.1 cm) tall, 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, 2 3/4 inches (7.0 cm) deep,
and weighs 1 pound, 3 ounces (530 grams).
To securely hold the sextant, a beautiful velvet-lined hardwood storage and display box with fitted cut-outs is
included with this purchase.
The outside of the box has a solid brass plaque engraved "RMS Titanic, White Star Line, Nautical Sextant"
with the matching serial number.
A unique front rotary clasp and a handle are on the front of the hardwood case.
The joinery on the case are all "Box" or "Finger" joints.
The case measures 7 inches (17.8 cm) square and 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm) tall, and weighs 2 pounds, 5 ounces
(1.0 kg).
