Full Description:
This beautiful Stanley London® Boxed Quartz Clock and Thermometer is a modern desk set which combines an antique nautical clock and a thermometer.  The clock features a highly accurate quartz movement and uses one AA battery.  The thermometer features a reliable dial thermometer with both Fahrenheit and Celsius scales with markings every 10 degrees from -13°F to 130°F.  Using celestial navigation, an accurate timepiece is always required to determine the ship's location at sea.  With the development of extremely accurate chronometers, both latitude and longitude can be determined.  However, an error of only one second of time is equal to 1/4 nautical mile error at the equator.  When opened, the clock platform hinges up toward the viewer for quick and convenient reading.  Both the clock and thermometer faces are protected by glass.  A clear coated finish on all brass surfaces eliminates tarnishing and the need for polishing.  The clock and thermometer are housed in a handsome satin finish mahogany wood case which features brass hinges and fittings.  So as not to damage your furniture, this elegant hand crafted box sits on four felt-covered brass feet.  A custom engraved brass plaque can be mounted on the front of the hardwood case.  The boxed clock measures 10 inches (25.4 cm) long, by 6 inches (15.3 cm) wide and 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) tall, and weighs 4 pounds 3.3 ounces (1.9 kilograms).  The brass clock and thermometer bezels measure 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) in diameter and the clock and thermometer faces measure 2 5/8 inches (6.7 cm) in diameter.
